What is the Padded Ground Sheet? Well, it is made of Plastazote, is a waterproof padded sheet, and provides a small amount of insulation value. Therefore it serves double duty as a ground sheet and a thin closed cell foam pad. It weighs so little that bringing a seperate ground sheet doesn't make sense. Simply place the full 72" long PG Sheet under your bivy, just like you would your groundsheet. This will keep your bivy dry, protect it from any twigs/rocks etc, and provide insulation between you and the ground. I combine mine with a torso sized pad for my upper body and place my backpack with any additional gear in it under my legs.
